Meet Scott Prentice: A Visionary with a Purpose
Scott Prentice is a force of nature—a man whose life weaves together grit, artistry, and a relentless drive to challenge the status quo. His journey is as diverse as it is inspiring:
Roots and Resilience: Born in 1960 in Sheridan, Wyoming, Scott grew up on a farm in Carlos, Minnesota, where hard work and family values shaped him. As a young man, he raised Grand Champion Simmental beef and Holstein dairy, learning early the rewards of dedication.
Military Grit: From 1979 to 1983, Scott served in the U.S. Army at Fort Hunter Liggett, California, as a Staff Engineer Non-Commissioned Officer. He oversaw horizontal and vertical construction, working as an architectural draftsman and construction supervisor for the U.S. Army Combat Development Experimentation Center. His designs and supervision shaped projects like the Humvee and M1A1 Abrams Tank, earning him the Army Commendation Medal among other honors.
Professional Trailblazer:
- After his military service, Scott earned a degree in architecture and design from Northern State University.
- In the 1980s, he returned to South Dakota, founding Prentice Real Estate and Builders Ltd., where he wore multiple hats as a designer and construction supervisor.
- By the early 1990s, Scott’s vision took him to new heights as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Concorde Gaming, Inc., a Bruce Lien Company in Rapid City, SD. Under his leadership, the company went public and developed casinos across the upper Midwest, including the Four Bears Indian Casino in Newtown, ND.
- A master of commercial art, Scott created a stunning 20′ x 40′ glass mural, “The Stand,” at Mount Rushmore National Memorial in 1996. His 25-year career in art glass and design served high-profile clients, including the Vice President of the United States and Miss South Dakota.
Current Mission: Today, Scott leads as CEO and Founder of BioChecked™, a trailblazing certification company redefining transparency in health and sustainability.
BioChecked™: Trust in Every Bite
Based in Florida, BioChecked™ is the largest independently owned third-party certification company in the U.S., with a footprint spanning five countries. Specializing in non-GMO and non-glyphosate certifications, BioChecked™ empowers consumers to make informed choices about the products they trust. Here’s what sets them apart:
Certification Programs:
- BioChecked Non GMO Certified™: For single-ingredient products like cucumbers or apples.
- BioChecked Non GMO Verified™: For multi-ingredient products like snack bars or chips. These certifications involve meticulous supply chain analysis and lab testing to meet strict non-GMO thresholds (0.1% for seeds, 0.5% for human consumables, 0.8% for animal feed).
- Non-Glyphosate Certification: BioChecked™ was among the first to sound the alarm on glyphosate in America’s food supply, offering certifications for products free of this chemical.
Rigorous Process: Companies seeking certification submit ingredient lists and supplier details for risk assessment. At-risk ingredients undergo testing in ISO 17025-accredited labs using ISO 21569 methods for GMO detection or glyphosate screening. Upon passing, BioChecked™ issues certificates and authorizes the use of their trusted logos on product labels.
Trusted Clients: BioChecked™ partners with industry leaders like Heavenly Organics, Lesaffre Corporation, Amyris Inc., Bakery de France, Natural Intentions Inc., Lallemand Inc., and Food For Life Baking Co., championing health and environmental consciousness.
