I really try now to reserve the use of this word for the glory of my God and Heavenly Creator, Yahoshua.

Awesome –

The word “awesome” comes from the late 16th century, derived from “awe,” which originally meant profound reverence or fear, often tied to the divine. Early uses, like in religious texts, described God’s majesty or power—think “awe-inspiring.” For example, in the King James Bible (1611), terms like “terrible” and “fearful” were used for God’s grandeur, and “awesome” later filled a similar role in religious contexts. Over time, especially by the 20th century, its meaning broadened to express general admiration or enthusiasm, losing much of its sacred weight. So, yes, it was used to praise God initially, but its modern usage is far more secular and casual.

I use it to describe the incredible things I see or learn about in my prayers or explain His creation to friends and family. It’s really a fantastic word. Isn’t this Awesome?
