Florida diver who is also a boat captain finds massive megalodon tooth in Venice.
After swimming for about 30 minutes, Charter Captain and diver Michael Nastasio uncovered the historic find when his flipper revealed the treasure.
The megalodon tooth is 6 inches long. It is extremely uncommon to find a tooth of that size in Venice but many are found in and around this community which is known as the “Shark Tooth Capital” of the Sunny Gold Coast of Florida.
The megalodon is the largest shark to have ever lived in the world’s ocean, according to the Smithsonian Institution. The megalodon shark lived roughly 23 to 3.6 million years ago.
